Ruger 10-22 p90 conversion

I have seen several videos on youtube and read several articles where people have taken a wells p90 airsoft gun and placed the workings of a ruger 10-22 inside it. I bought one of the airsoft guns to see how easily it would work and even though the guy on youtube says that the tolerances are tight enough and he has posted video of him shooting it I cant help but wonder how safe this is. I mean the toy plastic isnt the same grade that some of the synthetic stocks are made out of and I thought Id get some feed back before I ruined a perfectly good 10-22.
I love the look of the P90 and it would be cool to have but I wonder is it safe to do this?
