I have a Spanish FR8 Mauser, 18" carbine. I also have a red-dot sight. I want to mount the sight on the chamber, forward of the action, but cannot find info on proper mounts for the job. I am quite willing to remove some wood from the upper forestock to accomplish this. Anyone know which mounts I need?

Isn't that rifle built on a '98 Mauser action? There are mounts that replace the rear sights and mount the scope there. B-Square makes one. I have seen "Scout Rifles" built using that mount.

FF, I believe the Ashly-Clifton mount will work for you. They have a web site but I don't find the address. You could use your search engine. Brownells www.brownells.com sells them and I do as well. Your local dealer may have them. George

Thanks, folks! I appreciate the help. BTW, Jim, the rear sight on this particular Mauser is a CETME sight, built into the back of the receiver, not in the usual Mauser location. That would have been TOO easy! ;}
