Need help identifying old .22 rifle

I got this old single shot .22 rifle today and I'm trying to find out what I can about it. Previous owner told me it was a Mossberg, but it has no markings at all, anywhere on the gun, except for the tiny crescent moon on the bolt. (see photos). It has a plastic butt plate and plastic trigger guard.
Anyone have any clues about it?
I can take more detailed pics of any parts of it if need be.

Looks more like a Marlin, likely made for some hardware chain and therefore not marked as a Marlin.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
From google image searches I think you may be right. I dont suppose there is any way to figure out the age of the thing with no markings or serial number, eh?
Also trying to figure if it will take .22 s, l & lr.

Lacking a serial number, it must be pre-1968.
I THINK the streamlined plastic trigger guard came out in the 1950s.

Certainly a .22 single shot will handle S, L, and LR but there is little advantage to it these days.
