Opening a 308 bolt face
I keep hearing that a .308 is the easiest bolt face to open to a larger round. I was just wondering why this is.

It has more metal on the face rim do to it having a smaller case. The bolt as the same outside dimensions as larger calibers.
Hope that makes sense...lol... DJ |

No easier or harder than opening any other bolt face. It is the most common bolt face size, FWIW, and the most commonly opened up (mostly becasue magnum bolt faces don't need to be opened up very often, what would you open them up to?).
