Lake city brass already annealed?

Title pretty much says it, I have a bunch of lc brass in 308 and 233 and the discoloration on the neck and shoulder leads me to believe it was annealed during the manufacturing process. Is this correct?

All brass is annealed, some just polish the discoloration away some do not.

.mil standard will not allow the manufacturer to polish the annealing colors out - they must be visible.

The vast majority of commercial outfits will polish the annealing discoloration out - at least for the hunting rounds anyway. Many of the plinking rounds for 5.56/.223 or 7.62/.308 will not be polished.

1stmar, from start to finish a case is annealed at least 5 times before it leaves the manufacturer. there is no way to make the case without annealing. A reloader can test a case, problem, testing renders the case scrap.

My favorite 2 cases, one is the new unfired case, the other is the new case that has been fired in a trashy old chamber that is too long from the shoulder of the chamber to the bolt face.
