Loading for the PF9

I'll be getting a Kel Tec PF9 soon. I've read that these guns can be picky about COL, bullet type. Anyone load for these pistols right now? I have 115gr. LRN Missouri bullets and 124gr Precision FMJ on hand.

I have a P 11 that has eaten everything I have loaded in it. Though I wish it had as nice of a trigger as my G26. I load a 124 grain JHP I think at 1.180 over Titegroup around 4.2 grains of it. It cycles, and feeds just fine, and POI, and POA line up well out to 15 yards. Whcih is as far as I shoot it at.

Yeah, I've been loading my 124FMJ at 1.124 for the Glocks. I don't know if the shorter barrel on the PF9 will affect this.

My OAL is 1.10 for my Pf9 using a 125 MB. I use a minimum load and it cycles my gun just fine.

I have never had a jam in a Kel-Tec:
P11 9mm
P40 40sw
P357 357Sig
P32 32acp
P3AT 380
PF9 9mm

The barrel in the PF9 looks much like the P11, and I have put the P11 through years of torture, those are tough guns.

I have put the PF9 through a little torture.

I have been carrying a PF9 today as a sweat buckets while biking up steep hills.

I just bought one on line. It should be here by early next week. I'm loading some 124Gr. jacketed bullets in anticipation.

IMHO you should start with some factory rounds as a function test. At least a box of Winchester White Box and/or Blazer Brass and/or Monarch...nothing exotic. Just to make sure the gun works. Lots of people report good luck with the PF-9. Mine was junk. Would not feed a mag full of anything...from cheap ball to expensive hollow points. One guy at the range told me there was a PF-9 update not too long ago...you can tell the new ones because they have a metal mag release instead of a plastic one. He said these are a lot more reliable. *shrug*

I'd try 50-100 rounds of factory something before handloading for it. Just a thought....

Agreed, it's always best to run factory during break in. I'm thinking long term and during break in.
