I think .ram has something to do with RealAudio or RealMedia player. It isn't the same as the Windows Media Player. SOmetimes they are .rm files. I am not sure if this is what you are having trouble with though.

Yup. It's the downloadable .ram files that are posted here from time to time re "puke speach of the week."

.ram & .rm files are played with Real Player
It can play other formats as well, such as .mp3 files.

You can download their free player at: http://www.real.com/

Click on RealPlayer and half way down the page is a link to download the free player.
The direct link is: RealPlayer 8 Basic - is our free player

You do not need to spend the $20 for their RealPlayer Plus.

Thanks, 2GSP. Started to do that earlier but the auto download (I really do hate these things - I much rather download the file & install myself. Call it a quirk) came up with some "do you want AOL to ... ?"-thing & stopped the whole deal.

After actually doing the install (later), it was only an AOL icon or somesuch.

Detest AOL & my PC-builder guys actually have a policy that they charge extra for any fix if any AOL stuff is loaded on the PC.

YESSSSSS!!!!!! Wise, wise folks there.
I suggested to the powers that be where I work that our charges for AOL get spelled out as double right up front due to the amount of time we spend on hold with tech (non)support.
