Shocked! K22 Revoler Outshoots M41 Semi??
background:
60+, wear trifocals, iron sight shooting is tough M41 w/red dot is easier Haven't practiced with the 5 screw K22 in a month. Said, "What the heck? Take it out of the safe and shoot it!" Silhouette match this morning: I scored higher with the K22 than the M41 (which I've been doing a LOT of practice with)! Lesson Learned: Do NOT neglect the K22! Shoot it! Placed 2nd in my class in both irons and optics. Woot!

Not surprising! The K- Masterpieces were some of the most accurate target guns ever made.
Ease of following shots, not superior accuracy, is what put the auto loader tall hog at the trough on the firing line! Bob Wright |

Like I mentioned, I wear trifocals, so in order to clearly focus on the front sight I have to look thru the middle of my glasses (computer monitor distance).
Front sight becomes very clear, but the target is more blurry than usual for those with good eyesight. Been thinking about it, and I have no idea why I was able to do better with the K-22, especially since I hadn't practiced with it for over a month. These matches (and I've only shot four or five now) throw me some kind of curve every time I shoot one. Of course, neither gun actually out shoots the other. I just shot one better than the other today. Next match? I have NO clue.

I've never been able to consistantly shoot an auto better than a revolver, no matter how mechanically accurate the auto is.
The more the shooting is speeded up, the better I shoot the revolver compared to the auto (in other words, the faster I shoot an auto, the more my shooting degrades compared to a revovler)

The guy in my class that out shoots me and usually takes first place, shoots his auto with optics much faster than most within the 60 second time.
His method is "shoot when the sights are on the target". And it works well for him. I try to breathe, bring sights onto the target as I breathe again and press the trigger between breaths. HOWEVER, I've tried shooting faster with the M41 and red dot, shooting when the dot is on the target. Sometimes I can just lay five targets down without bringing the gun back down for a breath and reset. Sure is fun!

When i started silhouette shooting in thelate 1980's .I watched master shooters with 24 POWER SCOPES shoot standing.I asked how can you do that . His answer was .When I see orange I jerk the trigger.

Doc540,
As you my remember I purchased a S&W17-4 at a similar time to you buying your K-22. I have a Woodsman as my .22 Semi-Auto. It gets out shot by the revolver on a regular basis... Interestingly I also wear glasses. ATB, Scrummy |
