C&R came in mail...

...now what do i do? It took four weeks from the day they took the money to my door, but the other mailing didnt come in yet. I know i need to get a bound book, and i read that people said they put a letter together and a copy and sent them out to various places. Should i just type up a little form fitted intro letter? What places should i send them out to?

Any really good deals i should jump on?

Thanks ahead...

You have to provide your own bound book. Brownells sells them.

A form letter is a good idea, but I wouldn't send out a mass mailing. Start with a few places from which you know that want to order. Midway USA offers a discount to C&R holders on everything they sell.

I never got any info with mine, just the paperwork. ATF takes your money and looks the other way now.

Don't buy a bound book unless you're planning on getting a large amount of firearms.
Print out an example page from somewhere, make 5 copies, then put them in a clear-plastic page protector in a 3 ring binder or something.

Century Arms is a for sure, if you plan on buying C&R firearms.
I got my CZ-82s through AIM Surplus.
J&G sales out of Arizona usually has some C&R guns.
Civillian Marksman Program usually has things, especially M1s.
Empire Arms
Sarco Inc

etc....

There's a bunch, just look through search engines.

Could you provide a URL for a sample page? Hopefully my local LE official will get the forms back to me this week so I can mail my own C&R app. I want to be 100% legal and ready to go once it's been processed.

There are a couple examples here:

I like the Excel version, just print it out and stick it in a binder.

You sent forms to local Law Enforcement? The C&R application does not require their approval, just notification by sending the other copy of the form to them.

AimSurplus is always good, great service too, have purchased several items from them.

docpadds,

Please tell me you're kidding.
I thought the local guy had to complete the couple of lines after the checkoff list. Then he kept a copy of the whole thing for whatever records he decided to maintain.

You fill that stuff out, send the second copy with a polite cover letter to the local Sheriff/Chief etc saying here it is etc. Other goes to ATF with check and in a few weeks you get back the license if all went well.

I have an 03 at home and an 01 at work and even with the 01 we just had to notify the local Chief that we were setting up.

Welcome To The Wonderful World..

Of curios and relics, I hope you have a large checking account balance, a low credit card debt and a very understanding spouse. You'll need all three!

Also...DON'T SIGN THE ORIGINAL!!!

Make a bunch of photocopies and sign those. Put the original someplace safe and secure, unsigned.
