.30 Cal sabot rounds

Can anyone suggest a .224 cal bullet for 30.06 or .308 cartriges with sabot inserts. I made the mistake of runnng off a batch of 55gr Hornady soft-points and they come out as a gray-spray at these velocities. I could also use load data. I like Win-760 powder but am not sure this is the best choice for this application.

I use Berger for 4000+ ft/s without problem.

How accurate are the ones you shoot? How well would they work with a heavier bullet in the 60-77 grain range?

sabot rounds

The rounds I was using seemed to come apart once they left the barrel. The leave a shotgun-like pattern on paper.

disintegrating bullets

best advice is to make a few telephone calls to the bullet maufactures. Ask them what the maximum recomended velocity of the bullet that you intend to use is and load accordingly. I have spoken to Sierra and Hornady (both toll free) and have always been treated very well when asking tech questions on their products.
