pricing help

I need a little help or should I said advice. I decided to stop by my local fleet farm and saw a Sig Sauer 1911 listed for $650! I was going to pick it up when the sale guy told me that they had mistake the Sig for a Taurus 1911 and the real price was $950 instead. I was disappointed... But I still would like to pick it up.
My questions are:
1. is this a fair price for this SS Sig 1911 and anyone with any experience or own this handgun and how they like or dislike it?
2. Should I buy what originally wanted to buy...A Ruger SR9c as my first centerfire gun and save up for a more expensive 1911?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
