how do you find out when one was made?Any way to tell by the serial #'s thanks for your time

Rob, yes you can tell by the serial number. Harley's out of pocket - I'm sure he can give you better guidence when he gets back.

You don't necessarily have to wait that long. I have a Colt serial number/date list that includes production through 1985.
