10mm load using spent 9mm cases as projectile.

I was surfing Youtube when i found this guy who loads 10mm "wildcats" with a 9mm spent case as a projectile. the cases then appear to have been crimped or formed to aid in feeding. If any one has info on this process or load data i am most interested.

No idea. I have seen some strange reloading concepts, but this one is really strange. Will the 9mm case engage the rifling? I assume he's using a real light powder charge.

10mm requires a .40 caliber bullet, and the 9mm casings are .394 at its widest diameter (base). I suppose with the right crimp you could do it (say a roll crimp at the extraction groove), but still it seems kind of dangerous to me.

Duh i don't know why i didn't think of that here you go and i assume that the other 10mm wildcat vids by same author are of same load. Definitly not light on the powder.

Not what I thought at all. Interesting idea. High velocity/low mass should result in fast energy dump and little penetration.

They penetrated one phone book pretty easy. Wonder how they'd do with multiple books. Even 9mm 115gr. will penetrate 3-4 phone books.

man, if that guy ever gets attacked by a phone book, he's got it covered!

Joking aside, this is pretty tame stuff. Looks like he just crimped the case mouths on the 9mm cases and used them as bullets.

Like another poster said, hi velocity/low mass looks spectacular, but you sacrifice trajectory and penetration. I used to load up some screaming loads for my 357 with 90 gr .380 ACP bullets. About 2200 fps, and they just flat dismantled a jackrabbit. Only problem was you couldn't hit anything past about 50 yds they shot so wild.
