Problem load?
Hi, new guy, first time loading. I found this load on Alliants web site, 9mm loaded with 5.8 gr. unique, cci 500 primers, with hornady 124 gr. hp/xtp. OAL 1.1" Is this to hot a load? Thanks for any help.

Per my 49th Lyman manual...
125gr JHP 1.075oal 4.5-5.0 Unique I wouldn't do 5.8, no. Sounds very hot to me. But I just checked the site myself, and there it is...5.8 with 1.12oal and 1,180fps. |

at nearly 1200 fps, assuming a 4" test barrel, that is definitely a hot load. That would have to be in the very top of the pressure range, I think.
If you look at the .38 special, 6 grains and a 125 grain bullet create a +P load at about 100 fps lower velocity with a significantly larger case. |
