Bedside gun

Just curious as to what you guy's keep as a Bedside gun and what ammo do you keep in it? Personally I like to rotate my bedside gun but right now it's my S&W 4506-1 loaded with federal 230 grain+p HST's. Other time's it's the Hk 45, Para P14, or PX4 9mm. I have other's but they are safe queen's and do not see much action.

My 1911, if my old lady can barely rack the slide, there ain't no way a little rugrat can...but that being said it's also pretty well hidden. (I love false bottoms).

I keep regular old ball ammo. Good nuff 50 years ago, Good nuff today.

But other than that, gold dots all around. (Gold Gold everywhere!)

Taurus 85CH Snubbie .38 Special (blued) with Silvertip Hollow Points. Got it from an old lady for $100. Said it hurt her hand. I felt bad so I sat and chatted for a few hours.

Wheelguns don't take much thinking when you're a little groggy.

My Steyr M9A1 with blue/green night sights takes the top of my nightstand in the evening hours. She is fitted with a Streamlight/Insight M6X and 16 rounds of Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+.

As soon as I can get an ambi safety and night sights, it'll be this beauty...

I figure that a bedside pistol is more likely to have to defend against a nighttime home invasion with multiple attackers as opposed to an attempted robbery on the street where only 1 or 2 robbers might be involved.

That said, I like lot's of big bullets handy, so my XD45/4" fully loaded with 14 rounds "should" be sufficient as defense against multiple attackers.

The other part of the "plan" is that if we hear loud crashing noises, my wife heads for the closet with her S&W Model 60 that she keeps on HER side of the bed, while I stay in the bedroom as first (and hopefully) last line of defense.

Whatever kind of defensive weapon you have, if you don't have a plan, you don't have nuthin'.

Glock 17 9mm with night sights and Lasermax internal laser.

In addition, I have two 17 round magazines of Winchester Ranger 127 +P+ jhp SXT in the night stand next the to bed along with my glock, of course the gun is loaded with a 18 rounds of Winchester rangers 127 +P+. Underneath the bed I have a double barrel 12 gauge loaded with double odd buckshot. So I'm all set just in case.

On my nightstand, I keep my USP9 compact loaded with 13+1 124gr Gold Dots and my Surefire A2. If we are including what's under the bed, then I will have to add my Benelli M1 loaded with #1 buck.

.38Spl Smith 60 loaded with +Ps. In the unlikely event that doesn't get a BGs attention, then I'll pull one or more of the whoppers out of the safe.

night stand defense

Browning Hi-Power with Winchester 147 gr Law Enforcement hollow points. The daughter prefers a S&W 38 spcl with inverted wad cutters for up close work.

I keep a tarus (mod 66) 357 with 158 gr. jhp's. In the closet, there is a Rossi 92 also 357 loaded with the same ammo. Have 6 speed loaders. So between the rifle and the handgun there is a total of 16 rounds. My son (age 21) has the Russian Mak with a spare clip...another 16 rounds...

400 Grain, 475, XTP's @ 1350 FPS. I like stainless, since it won't rust when it gets wet from sweating on hot nights, under the pillow.

Kimber Ultra Carry II

It's on the top of the bedside table, and the snubbie is on the bottom shelf (no drawers on this table). I had *thought* that I would use the XD as a bedside gun, but I haven't gotten a handgun safe yet, and truth be told, I shoot better with the Kimber (MUCH to my surprise).

All of that is to give Archerandshooter time to get to the safe and the shotguns. Then the heck with kick and I'll be shooting Youngest Son's Mossberg 20 while A&S has the 12

Then we'll need a lot of new drywall.....

My side: Taurus PT145 10+1 (safety on) + extra mag. 1st mag is taurus version of cor-bon, backup mag is hydra-shoks

Her side: Cold Python / Winchester silvertips

closet (open at night, locked by day) colt 1911 (cocked & locked / hydra-shoks), Lincoln X and Psalm 23 (mags full w/ 00 buck, empty chambers) many others at hand in closet, but Lincoln and Psalm would be my "go-to's".
