MAB

so, I recently came into posession of a Pistolet Automatique CAL. 7.65 MAB Brevete Modele D.

Anyone know anything about these weapons?

I know they were produced in the 1940s and they are French, but thats bout it.

Where to get ammo? It came with two extra mags and the woman said that it had been her husbands and she didn't know anything about it.

Any help would be great. Counting on you guys and gals and what-have-yous

MAB stands for Manufacture d'Armes de Bayonne,* in France. The caliber is 7.65mm Browning, known here as the .32 ACP. Any well stocked gun shop should have it and it can be ordered over the net.

The Modele D was made from 1933 to 1940 as a commercial and police gun, and then for the Germans under the occupation. Even the wartime guns were good quality and reliable. (The wartime guns were marked differently - yours is pre-war.) Some imported here had target sights and thumb rest grips installed to meet the U.S. import requirements. If yours has them and they are really bothersome, both can be replaced.

*Yep, the arsenal that gave us the bayonet.
