Interesting. I went there and I went to maptech. Both use the same mapping company and offer the same maps. ( www.mytopo.com )
I like being able to custom the area covered and the scale. I ordered one. Pops

I use Delorme state by state cd's. Very flexible. Yes, they cost $100 each. But once you have them, you can really do some nice things with the maps.
For rough stuff, Terra server works okay, but you have little control of the product. Google earth; very cool. Have used the free service only vs premium. |

would never pay more than $1.08 for a topo. The wonderful state of mn has a landview that has topo aireal everything you can think of. just print and laminate cheaper and faster then any other computer thing!!!

I have 2 maps from mytopo.com, one for where we hunt elk and one for where we hunt deer (when we can get drawn for tags...). I think they are great. The main things I like are 1) customized area so you don't have to tape two sheets together, 2) customized scale, so you can control how much detail you get, 3) quality of water proofing has made it through some pretty wet hunts with no problems, and 4) ability to have UTM coordinates on the map. I am retired Army, so have used UTM forever - lat/long just is too messy for me...
Only short coming is the lack of logging road numbers, but I am not sure you will get them anywhere else anyway. First couple of years I just carried a thin Sharpie and put in info I needed. Also, it says "Printed For (your name)" on it, so if it ends up accidently in your buddies pack, you can get it back. And no, I am not on commision with them. I do think it is a great product. |

thanks monkey and others - free is better.
I print from the blm/lsis/geocommunicator and terraserver, but I have problems in stretching it to maximize use of the page and make for easier reading and marking. I'll try that topozone - would that be topozone.com? |
