Anybody have reloading data for Barnes?

Looking into trying the barnes triple-shock in my M1 for a hog hunt.

None of my manuals has any data for the barnes' which I've heard needs different loads, and Barnes' #4 isn't out yet and don't want to buy #3 which is several years old.

My normal 168 gr. load uses 46.5 gr of IMR4895. Would this be safe with the barnes 168 gr. TSX?

Thanks,
Tim

Close,

I should have stated this is a "normal" M1 ie: 30-06.

They only list H4895 (I use IMR4895) on the '06 page and only for the 150 gr. TSX.

You have an M1 Garand not an M1A. This is closer but probably not what you want:

That load is safe. Start load is 46.0, max is 49.5 with IMR 4895.

Has anyone worked up a load starting with a recipe of a similar weight bullet? Would this be acceptable or do these Barnes build more pressure that say a Nosler ballistic tip?

Most of the Barnes start loads are about 1.5-2 grains below Nosler start loads.

Thanks for the info, guys, guess I'll give it a try.

Hence no "A" after M1 in my original post.

Sections of the number 4 manual are made available to copper club members as they are written. $50.00 a year though.

Any bullet maker or powder make would be more than happy to take a phone call or an e-mail with exactly this question. Along with suggestions from the forum, you oughta contact both the bullet maker and powder maker and get their suggestions, too.
