I've noticed that sometimes when I click on a link, the copy of explorer I'm running will go to it. Other times I'll click on a link, and a new copy of explorer will pop up to go to it. How is this diference accomplished in the url? I prefer the latter, as I don't have to "back" to get back to the Firing line.

It depends on whether or not they are using UBB Code. If they are using UBB code, then a new window will open for the URL.
If they are using HTML, a new window will not open (unless they use the TARGET="_blank" qualifier, but I don't think anyone here does that besides me). Check out the UBBCode section of the FAQ for more information on how to use UBB Code Hope this helps Spark ------------------ Kevin Jon Schlossberg SysOp and Administrator for BladeForums.com www.bladeforums.com |

Brett - with Netscape you can RIGHT click on the link and select "open in new window." I'd assume Explorer is similar.
Spark - I lay a lot of HTML links here, but that's about all I know about HTML. Using parenthesis instead of less/greater than (so we can see it ), where in the (a href="http://wherethehellamigoing.com")Link(/a) do I put the qualifier, and what exactly do I put? |

Hey Morgan...I'll take this one.
To make it pop up while doing that (by copying your example) here we go... (a href="http://wherethehellamigoing.com")Link(/a) your would add target="blank" after a href="http://where...com" So it would look like this: (a href="http://wherethehellamigoing.com" target="blank")Link(/a) |

Exactly right, Zach.
And yes, you are correct Morgan, IE does have the equivalent of "Open in a New Window", which is typically what I use with NN. Right click and Alt+Tab, my two most used commands... Spark ------------------ Kevin Jon Schlossberg SysOp and Administrator for BladeForums.com www.bladeforums.com |

Guys-
Please don't use HTML links. Use the UBB format...it avois potential problems for *me*. Format is: "[url]link address[url]" Thanks. Rich |

Rich, actually, why don't you go the simpler route and just disable HTML in the forums, so that way only UBB code can be used? Less problems on your end...
BTW, if you do run into a thread being taken down due to poor HTML, let me know. Spark ------------------ Kevin Jon Schlossberg SysOp and Administrator for BladeForums.com www.bladeforums.com |

Thanks, Spark.
It's kind of a liberterian thing. I'd rather depend on Member responsibility than board restrictions. Rich |
