38spl +p Brass...

Well, steel I guess, If you can't tell I am new to reloading. I have a load of 38spl +p cases. Some of them have a "ring" around half way down, while others have a "crimp" mark, and yet others have both. What causes this, how detrimental is it, and should I reload it?.....BTW I don't have a .357 yet but I am loading in anticipation of getting it......so I won't know what happens to the brass when I shoot...yet.......

The ring is a canalure (SP?) that is used on some factory rounds to keep the bullet from being pushed further in the case. I'm not sure why they use it since a revolver will tend to pull the bullet instead of push it back in.
