Walker question

Was looking on GunBroker for a Walker. There is an auction for 'Colt Fluck Dragoon Walker Replacement 1848' the buy it now is 13K. Now this is certainly not an item I can afford to buy, but what's the deal? Is this a real antique or a forgery? The listing says that defective Walkers were returned and the barrels shortened. Serial #2233. GB listing #398697737. I guess I'm just interested in the history of the gun. If anyone is willing to explain the return of Walker/Dragoon pistols, I would like to hear the history of how guns were returned and modified.
