But of course! In a pocket a 642 pretty much daily. I'll only wear semis in a belt holster and then not little teenie ones..I see no point in slim 9s and 380s with 6+1 and a mag of 6 when I can carry an absolutely reliable J Frame easily with 2 extra speed loaders of good old "FBI" loads (158 +P lead hollow points). Still have a pile of those around. Practice with 5 grains of Unique and 158SWC. Haven't worn one out yet.

^ What he said.
Speedloaders ain't no fun to carry, speed strips are the only thing I can conceal for revolver reloads. Now if I COULD conceal them, I would. Reloads are fast with speedloaders. |

depending on weather, I sometimes carry my H&R 922 2 1/2". it's 60 years old, but shoots a 1 1/2" group at 7 yards.
it usually resides in my truck door pocket. main carry is a Sig P250 9mm SC.

S&W 36
I have been carrying a S&W 36 lately. It is small and not too good for me for long distances but close up, WOW. I have a holster that I have to snap off the hammer but with that snap it doesn't poke me in the side like other holsters I have. I know it is going to fire and I also carry a m36 speedloader.

If I go out in the desert on weekends I will carry a Ruger Blackhawk in 45LC. During snake time the first two rounds are shot loads for snakes and the rest are Ruger only 45LC handloads for other things one might find.

I carry a Ruger Security Six or a .38 LCR. I have a couple of carryable semiautos, but I rarely carry them. I need to find a holster for the LCR; pocket-carry wears a hole in my pants from the front sight.
If I lose a little more weight, I might start carrying the CZ-82 (I have holsters for it already)

I rotate a few.
A early SS Charter Arms undercover .38 I pocket carry +p PDX1 in this. it has ran several hundred rounds of it without a hiccup. A Ruger Sp101 Snubby in .357. I run Magtech .357 hps in it. A Rossi Model 68 snubby with PDX1's as well. I sometimes even carry a smokeless DAO Iver Johnson .38 s&w with a short little barrel on it. I run factory Ball lead ammo in this. I have plenty of Semi Auto's I thought I would end up carrying but I never really do. I have a .40 glock 27 a SCCY 9mm and a few other little 9mm's but I rarely carry them. |

Yep...have carried a J-frame Smith for...hell as long as I can remember. It's my favorite CCW but far. Both my wife and I used to tote a Model 36 in .38 special, still have it and carry it for old time's sake, but for the last cpl years I've upgraded to a 3" Model 60 in .357 Magnum. She's gone over to an Airweight Smith 637 in the OWB rig shown below.
Neither of the all-steel guns is especially comfortable to tote in the pocket, and draw from that position is difficult so we normally carry in an OWB, Tom Threepersons open top of my own making. With most any kind of long shirt, either gun is well concealed. Same is true of her current 637, tho that one sometimes rides in her purse. I do occasionally carry a Sig P290 or Smith's 380Bodyguard, but find like many, that the simplicity and ease of presentation of a revolver makes for a better defensive arm in civilian hands. For us, the add'l rounds offered by autos and the add'l complexity of safeties, slide stops, and malfunction clearing procedures don't make a lot of tactical sense in our environment, both at home and on the road. Other folks have different needs and concerns, and I understand that, but the 5 rounds in a J-frame makes sense for us. Here's a pic of my wife's Airweight 637 in one of our holsters...the Model 60's carried in the same type but without the add'l keeper strap...Rod

Right now it's a S&W 610, 6 3/8" in a Bianchi X15 vertical shoulder rig. Very comfortable. Carry a couple of loaded moon clips in my pocket. Also have a S&W 19, 6" but it's a little loose in the shoulder holster. Need to find a holster for the 19. When something smaller is required, it's a S&W 442 in either a OWB or pocket holster depending on the situation. I find a shoulder rig best for my situation as I spend most time sitting in an office chair or driving. Anything on the waist is nearly impossible to access from these positions except for maybe a cross-draw. Have used a cross-draw holster with large autos.

I go back and forth between my 638 and DAO SP101-357. I just picked up a 44 Bulldog, and it will become my EDC. I have a spurless hammer ordered from Charter Arms.

Current S&W's vs. 50's& 60's
I own several S&W's from the 50's- 60's era.All have been tuned by the best 'smiths. They are proven and never a problem. But as I read TFL, I sense that current S&W's may not have the quality of my era revolvers.Could you guys give some examples? Thanks in advance.
