Loading 9MM Luger and the 124GR XTP

Does anyone have a Hornady manual? I'm looking for a load using a 124gr Hornady XTP for personal defense. I have some Clay, Universal clays, and HS-6 that might work. I really don't want to get into another powder that I don't have, because I have LOTS of the powders above. Also need a COL.
Thanks, WDO

Love the XTP in 9mm. I shoot more of the Hornady 125 HAP (same bullet without the nose serrations)
Of your three powders I would go with Universal. HS-6 is good too.
I do not recommend Clays in 9mm.
Let me look up my data and get back.

Thanks, I really like the XTP in my 44. I've shot more than a few deer with it.

HS-6 should work well. It's in the middle of the chart in the Hornady 8th. They did not test with your other powders.
HS-6 124 XTP HP--start 5.1-900fps---5.4-950--5.6-1000--max 5.9-1050
oal 1.060"--tested with Horn. case and WSP primer--4" barrel

I'll post my load, but please check this against a published source for your safety. This load was worked up in a Glock 19 and may be too long for some guns.

9mm
Win brass
CCI #500 primer
124 XTP
COL 1.090"
4.2 grains Universal
1,048 fps

I use this same recipe with the 125 HAP with identical results.

4.6gn of HP38 works really well for me in my 9mm.and 231 is a trade off for the HP38 so either will work.my C.O.A.L. is at 1.135

I'm sure I'm north of 60#'s of powders here. I really need to find something in my current stock that will do the job.

Anyone got a load for the 124 grain xtp using win 231 from the #8 manual?
My L.G.S. says he will get me the book but I would like to load up some before
next weekend when the load book will be in. I have the #4 book but seems to have hotter data than the newer book. If you could tell me the loaded length that would be fantastic.

The current Critical Defense ammo was 'discovered' when a tech filled an XTP bullet with silicone from the hardware store.

No loads tested for Win 231 with the 124 XTP in Hornady 8th. They do list Win 231 with the 115 XTP.

231 and HP38 are the same so use my load above.it's 4.6gn's of HP38 ( 231 ) and my COAL is at 1.135 but cannot say to how fast they are running.they just shoot great and feed great in my EMP.
