Big problem. Looking for reloading formula for 190 grain match king. Using a powder that is actually available. Any help greatly appreciated.

They are close enough to MK if you start low/middle and work towards best accuracy -- which will likely NOT be near max

See HERE for Sierra's own loading data.

I worked up a load using
190gr smk
38.5gr Viht N-540
LC case
Win LR pimers
Velocity 2360fps

I have shot that load in 9 different rifles . 3 savage , 3 Rem 700 , 1 Ruger american , 1 Nemesis and 1 cutom build . All shot sub MOA and a few shot sub 1/2 moa .

I also have a sub moa loaod using IMR-4064

190gr smk
40.5gr IMR-4064
PPU case
Win LR primer
Velocity 2510fps
.6 moa 4 shots

One more

190gr smk
38.5gr IMR-4895
LC - 11 case
Win LR primer
velocity 2405fps
.8 moa 4 shots

All these loads are first run work ups , I then go back to the range to confirm . I did not do any other tinkering like seating depth and what not . I'm sure I could shrink those up another tenth or two if I played around with them a bit .

I tried Vihta Vouri N140 with a Savage 10 FCP-K .308 with loads of 39.6, 40.0, 40.4 and 40.9 grains 20 thousandths off the rifling and got a best average of 0.442 and a worst average of 0.471 at 100 yards.

I then tried N140 with a Savage 10 FP with a new Savage barrel with the same loads and got a best average of 0.354 and a worst average of 0.464.

I would say those were pretty good results.
N140 is pretty hard to find but it works better for me than H4895 and much better than Varget and Reloader 15.

Lots of powders available here (Brunos) 1 and 8lbs in stock. Start with IMR 4064, as stated above it's a good proven reliable load. I use it in 22-250, 308, .223 in my rifles.

Back when 190's in a .308 Win case was "the" load for 600 yards and beyond, one load produced the most match wins and records in bolt guns; 42 grains of IMR4064. In 7.62 NATO Garands, 44 grains of IMR4320 was the favorite but also was a good alternate in bolt guns. 1/4 MOA accuracy at 100 yards, sub MOA at 1000 was the norm with good quality barrels in well built rifles.

Some bolt guns used 49 grains of IMR4350 under 190's with excellent results, but powder had to be drop tubed or "shake and trickled) into cases to prevent crushed loads. Nobody got consistant great accuracy with 190's in a .308 with any powder faster than IMR4064. There are more powders today at that speed so check out this link for some at that speed and a tiny bit slower:

http://www.hodgdon.com/burn-rate.html

I suggest staying away from any ball powder; they've never been popular in accuracy disciplines.

I have spend hours over the chronograph and days at the range shooting 190 SMK’s in various 308 rifles.

The IMR 4064 load that Bart B mentions Back when 190's in a .308 Win case was "the" load for 600 yards and beyond, one load produced the most match wins and records in bolt guns; 42 grains of IMR4064 is an excellent load but very sensitive to case weight and barrel. In the data below, I could use that load in the lightest cases I had, but same load in LC88 the primer pockets expanded so much that after one firing, the cases were useless.

In hot weather with IMR 4064 I have had leaky primers and I cut the loads to 41.5 grains. If you have AA4064 that powder is worth exploring, you will hit a max load around 41.0 to 42.0 grains.

Friends recommended IMR 4350 but a load of 47.0 grains completely fills the case and my velocities were just too slow.

In my opinion, go direct to Varget. An excellent long range load is going to be around 43.0 to 44.0 grains. Varget is an excellent powder and I predict it will replace IMR 4064 and IMR 4895 as the “go to” powder in 308.

to help not hinder

Sorry to butt in. Just to help us all. Reloaders should try their best to not buy supplies from private parties and small online storefronts "that are likely private parties that do two things to us. Buy up all the reasonably priced stock they can and double the price when they flip it to us. If we all just stopped buying from them and made them sit on their stock they would get the hint. I have seen some of these individuals at Cabela's first hand and most of them look like drug fiends looking for a fix. I had to grab powder out of one of their carts after he swept all of the varget from in front of me into his cart. He wasn't even going to say a thing to me at that point. But I shared some words with him! So spread the word and think of who you might be buying from.
