Newbie Questions on Brass ??

I'm preparing to get into reloading and have been saving my once fired .38 SPL brass. I have been shooting many different manufacturer's products, so my spent, once-fired brass is mixed manufacturers.

Is this OK??

All of my revolver rounds are easy to save.

How does one easily save 9mm brass ejected from a semi-auto???

Jeff, you could get you one of those brass catchers or you could make one yourself. The brass catchers fit on you hand, so you have the opening by where your spent cases come out. Hope this helps.

Great idea; I did not even know they made such a thing. Makes sense!

Jeff, I don't have one at the moment...I was going to make my own. On HPFF.com there is a guy that shows you how to make one. They are real easy to make. Also, you could google "Brass Catchers". I did that to find some. I saw some for $10 bucks. Not bad. Hope this helps.

I separate my .38 but it is just my personnel choice to do so. I don't do it with 9mm and.45 or anything else I reload.

Will clear this up I don't separate my brass by manufacture except .38

What does not seperating my brass have to do with selling it

Sometimes we will put down a big tarp at a match if shooters don't have to move while shooting. Most of the time I have to go around and pick them up off the ground.

I shoot mixed brass in all my pistol calibers. Unless you are loading balls-to-the-wall loads you will be perfectly fine. Just start low and work your way up like always.

I shoot whatever I have previously shot that I bought at a store. My brass is all mixed, I just check em each time I reload em. My method for collecting brass is complex, it involves two legs and one arm

, I just know my guns and go pick em up off the ground. No problem there unless you step on a case. If you shoot with a buddy have him watch your brass while you shoot... the holes in the target won't change so he can look later. I have 20~25 .38 spl that I have no way to reload if you want to trade some 9mm?

I shoot mixed brass in all my handguns doesn't seem to make a difference,I hang my tarp up beside my shooting bench the brass from my auto's hits the tarp and falls to the ground right beside the bench.

Toss out the Amerc headstamped brass. It's garbage. Although I'm not sure if it was common with .38SPL or not. Also, like Crosshair stated, be reasonable with your recipes.

I never sort my .38 brass and it works just dandy

As far as saving your 9mm brass. What I do at the range/s I go to is I find a stall or lane with the wall or stall wall to my left and I just bounce my brass off the wall and it lands near by.

Don't you just love those revolvers. When the range is crowded I shoot a lot more revolver than semi. I don't like people walking all over my brass

Unfortunately, I don't even have enough 9mm or .38spl brass to start reloading yet (I just bought some).

I'll keep you in mind for future trades though.
