Banning Gun & Ammo Sales in Fl after Hurricane ??

Hi Everyone
I was reading a colum in the St. Pete Times yesterday that was looking at the situation in NO after hurricane Katrina. They were asking what would it be like in the Tampa Bay area in the aftermath of a big storm like Katrina. They went on to say that because the water would likely drain pretty fast that the rescue workers would be able to spring into action pretty quickly. They spoke of curfews, possible gas rationing and a BAN ON ALL GUN & AMMO SALES!!
Well; I see that when we do our hurricane supply shooping each spring we should stock up on ammo. I for one plan on doing just that this weekend.

Funny, I didn't think the problem in NO was people buying ammunition or guns. I thought it was with people STEALING guns and ammo. Oh, wait! These same thugs would undoubtedly obey a law prohibiting the purchase of weapons and ammo.

No I am not surprised it is a liberal rag sheet. The wife says she NEEDS her paper. Gotta keep her happy. At least I can check my lotto #s...lol

That would be the worst ban. I don't think people would be out buying ammo right after a hurricane. I think a good gun owner living near possible hurricane type conditions would have a good amount of ammo stored up and ready to carry or deploy if need be.

Regulations like that just show how some people concentrate on the ridiculous. If I ran the paper I would want to discuss how to deal with a disaster (rescue, evacuation, food, guidance, etc), not ban guns/ammo sales.

You've got to be prepare for that kind of disaster way ahead of time. I load up on gasoline, propane, etc . . . if there is even a hint of a hurricane heading towards North Florida. Non-perishables, like canned goods, and ammunition are always very plentiful in my house.

IIRC, they did halt gun and ammo sales for a short time following one of the hurricanes that went through last year.
