Walther P1 (P38) barrel unlocks too soon

Any Walther P1 or P38 experts around?

I have one that occasionally unlocks too soon and allows the barrel to hang up in front of the slide. When this happens you have to flip the takedown lever around, slide the barrel and slide off the gun, then reassembly it.

I can replicate the issue by applying forward pressure on the barrel while I pull the slide to the rear. Its as if the locking block is too small or drops too soon. There does not appear to much much wear on the aluminum frame. When in battery everything locks up tight.
