Conversions aplenty

So I've been kicking around the idea of getting a conversion type (R-M)revolver. Since I already have an Uberti '51 Navy C&B, I was thinking about Cimarron's 1860 R-M conversion in .44 Colt.
Does anyone here reload for the 44 Colt. That particular cartridge seems to be the most "authentic" for the application, however I have not been able to find much info on the cartridge.
My other option is Cimarron's Richard's Type II. It appears Cimmy's version is built on the same 1860 Army. I was hoping for the smaller grip such as the 1861 Navy for use with 38 Special/Colt.
Any Suggestions with regards to authenticity? It seems to me, through a simple search on gunbroker, that there were a variety of ways the originals were configured.
Whew!
