Scope base help please.

My JC Higgins model 50 needs a new scope. It has a 4X Bushnell now. I believe the scope, rings, and two piece base are original to the rifle. I would like to upgrade it to a 3X9, and keep the same scope base.
The base is a Weaver-like shape but is 5/8" across the wide (top) part and
1/2" on the (bottom) skinny part.
Anyone know of rings to fit this old 1950s base?
Thanks in advance.

Scope base help please

For many years mass production rimfires came with a small dovetail machined into the receiver. There are also screw-on mounts approximating one. This sounds like what you have and Weaver called them Tip-off rings. They are intended for small, light scopes. One-inch tip-off rings are available from Weaver and Burris and others

Good Try

Tip off style rings are for a 3/8ths size dovetail, too small for these bases. Thanks tho, believe it or not I found a good pair of rings I already had, don't get any better than that. Now I'm waiting for my new Bushnell 4200 elite scope to go on it. Watch out Deer, now I can see ya

Thanks for the input
