kydex holsters that are easy on the finish?

So far, the only Kydex holsters I've had a hands-on look at are the Fobus and while I like them (have two), they are hard on a gun's finish. Are there any "plastic" holsters with finish-safe linings?

Neither Kydex nor leather will wear on a gun more than the other. The key issue is to make sure that your holster is clean and free of dirt. Of course this means that you have to keep the holster clean. For leather I recommend checking with the manufacturer to see what is recommended as a leather cleaner. For Kydex, I just wash them in soap and water and make sure they are dry.

There is no way to avoid some wear on a gun from holster use. Keeping the holster clean will reduce it to a minimum.

Fobus isn't kydex, but some type of plastic.

A little silicone spray inside the kydex holster, then wipe with a towel will help with the holster wear. I use food grade silicone to avoid the solvents. I make kydex holsters and this has reduced the wear on the guns that I use for holster molds. Some have been in and out of holsters thousands of times. Dairycreek has it down with keeping the inside of your holster clean. You will always get some wear, but you can keep it to a minimum.

I don't know if it applies to every safariland but it would appear they have some kind of "protection"

I know my fobus has worn the finish some on my M&P, and I clean it often I'll try the silicon trick. I just started using a blade tech kydex this past week it's "slicker" looking and feeling compared to the fobus so I suppose I'll find out.

If a gun goes in and out of any holster wear marks will appear; the more it goes in and out the more wear it will show.
