Silly question
But I was playing a game and found a side by side pistol 12ga.
Might be kind of cool (I believe it is NFA for non black powder??). The closest I could find is this one: http://www.cabelas.com/pistols-david...:referralID=NA Is it even possible to get one in a smokeless cartridge? Any gauge (prefer 20 or 12). And I used my handloads for the first time today. So light and no recoil. No issues even though I have not cleaned my gun in over 300 (maybe 400) or so rounds...

Yes, there are several NFA manufacturers that sell them.
You can make your own if you pay the $200 tax to the BATF. |

That style of hand gun was a last ditch weapon used when Tiger hunting in India. The British gun makers made the pistol of very large caliber (500 & 577) for the hunters. Shots usually very close, less than 5 feet much less.
As the Mararajah of Cooch Behar said "Recoil is insignificant when there is a tiger on the head of your elephant." |

Bill's right about the $200 federal tax, but remember to check your state/local gun laws before making your mods. That federal tax is not a get out of jail free card.

Yep - What's legit posession under Federal Law may be prohibited posession under State or Local law.

If it was manfactured as a 12ga pistol could it be considered an AOW or is it still a SBS?

I assume the same status as this one, http://www.serbu.com/top/superShorty.php
Which I think is a AOW with a $5 fee.
