The M16A2 was 20 inches.

According to everything that came up when I Googled "M16 Barrel length" is seems that A1 A2 and A3 were all 20 in. I'm sure there were variants that were different, but you asked about the standard ones.

Wikipedia has a reasonable amount of info on military rifles, as does world.guns.ru

the M16 is a 20" barrel, M4 is 14" and a lot of the civilian carbine ARs are 16" with a few 24" and 18" floating around.
