M203 grenade launcher

is the M203 grenade launcher considered an NFA weapon? or can anyone legally able to own guns buy one.?

i'd love to have one on the AR-15 i'm getting, and some smoke grenades for it just for shigs & tiggles.

but i don't necessarily want to go through all the crap i'd have to go through to own an NFA weapon at the moment.

37mm smooth bore chamber, unregistered flare launcher, not even a firearm.

40mm rifled bore, NFA destructive device.

I suggest Airsoft for you since you are not ready.

yes, the 203 is a DD. Not like you can get any fun rounds for it, only flares and training rounds, oh and the beehive that shoots several .22 rounds at once. I've thought about one but.......wouldnt have much use for it. other than to look cool.

I've seen a few people mount 37mm flare launchers to various ARs. All of the barrel mounted ones slipped around when the rifle was fired more than a few magazines. I would get a rail mount if I had to have one.

If you just want to shoot smoke and flares and pyrotechnics, no problem with a 37mm. If you decide later you want to shoot "knee knockers" or rubber rounds or gas or beehive rounds or something you can always Form 1 your 37mm as a DD. I think Spikes was selling 37mm registered as a DD on their site.

I had a 37mm flare launcher - barrel mount. Yes, it will slip around. I used folded aluminum foil to make basically a compression gasket - it was as tight as a drum.
