Identify this Special Forces pistol. . .
What is it? SIG? H&K? I'm guessing SIG.
The photo is from CNN's headline story on the assasination attempt. Caption reads: A U.S. Special Forces soldier talks to colleagues after the assassination attempt. Shake

I feel certain that the pistol is a SIG, but the detail sin the picture are not clear enough to be certain which model it is.

Since we know that Seals are issued Sig 226, wouldn't that be a pretty good guess?

Whatever it is, that guy has to be hardcore to do without a level IV vest and an ordinary hat (and he's barechested at that!). At least his weapons are state of the art.

It looks like a full size Sig Sauer P226 in 9mm. And so yeah, its a good chance he's a SEAL.

Sig Sauer P220 or P226.
If hardpressed I`d say P226.

It looks to me like an older model P220 from the sharp rather than rounded point on the hammer and the straight rather than more arched backstrap on the grip. If I was to bet money on it, that would be my guess.

Or he got rousted and grabbed his weapon and pants and ran towards the action... and hasn't had time to re-equip.

Looks like a 226 to me
I put this photo into Photopoint and played around with it. Zooming just makes it blurrier. It looks like a 226 in a Nelson #1 Professional type holster, possibly a Kramer, I remember when Kramer was advertising that some special ops group chose their vertical scabbard.
I was skeptical of this claim, but not now. Take care, Dave |

Unfortunate that his face is now all over the 'net. So much for operational security.

I don't think he is U.S. Military
I believe he is CIA,the reason I say this, is because. I think the Geneva Convention prevents/forbids soldiers from not wearing there uniforms while serving in combat on foreign soil. This way they can not be tried as spies if captured,as long as they are wearing there countrys uniform. They must be treated as prisoners of war.

70-101,
I've got news for you if you think that all "soldiers" wear identifiable uniforms at all times. I've spent plenty of time in various states of "uniform" from class A to BDU to sterile to relaxed grooming standards to civilian clothes to dress like the natives. Operators regularly are not recognizable as "soldiers". WK

Definitely a SIG...
...full-sized - either P220 or P226.

Shake-
"relaxed grooming standards"... Jay and Deputy- Said unit carries operator preference. And most tools are customs based on operator spec.
