Good over/under trap shooting gun for a 13 year old?

Can anyone recommend a good 20 gauge over and under for a beginner in trap shooting. I would like to stay in the $300.00 to $500.00 range. Thanks!

About the only thing in that price range are Turkish imports. If you go up a few hundred you might find a used Browning or Beretta o/u. I started my sons with 12 ga. Bt99s. I started each of them when they were 12. A cheap o/u will not last long if you do a lot of shooting.

Why 20 ga ? They are usually lighter so there is no recoil advantage. Most women in sporting clays use 12 Ga. Lots of ammo for the 12, such as light target with low recoil. Make sure the gun fits him , cut it off if necessary. Install a good recoil pad like the Pachmyer Decelerator.

Stoeger released thier Condor model in 20 ga last year. I have a 12 ga Condor that I've hunted with and shot sporting clays with for 5 years...very pleased with this bargain basement O/U

Stoeger and/or Spartan. Both are good, inexpensive, no frill guns.

I fired a 10 gauge at 13...first shotgun I fired and the fellas had a good laugh and I had a bruised shoulder...go with a 20 gauge with a light load to start.

I agree with mete, unless your set on a 20ga, you can make a 12 shoot better and with less felt recoil than a 20 and with a better selection to choose from.
