Beartooth Cast Bullets---

Anyone tried any of the Beartooth 185 gr. bullets with gas checks
in a .357 Magnum ?

Yes, they're a good bullet. I should say that I've know Marshall for a long time. One thing to watch for. They're a long bullet and just fit in the short cylinder of a S&W 28. Trim the cases to minimum and use a good crimp.

What powder did you find the best ?

I find AA9 and W296 work safely; recommend CCI or Federal primers.

My cylinder is 1.625" long and I loaded the 185 grainers to 1.610". That doesn't leave any room for slippage, but I didn't have a problem once I used a heavy crimp. My normal light .38 Special crimp wasn't quite enough, with RCBS dies. I only used W296 as that's what Marshall recommends. Unfortunately Marshall isn't shipping to Canada anymore due to U.S. border controls.

Thanks to all for the information. That's exactly what the cylinder measures
on my S&W models 65 4 inch and my S&W model 66 4 inch.
On my S&W model 60 2 inch .357 the cylinder measures 1.595.
For all practical purposes isn't the H110 powder about the same
as the W296 ?

I've heard from Hodgdon that they are the same powder. Hodgdon markets both now and their online data is the same for the two. I buy whichever is less expensive at the time...

My son used a copy of this bullet ( self-casted) to bag his first buck this year. A Marshal-recommended 16gr. of H-110 was what we used in a Marlin 1894C. It really hammered him!

My experience with both (I have plenty) suggests that they don't look the same, smell the same, meter the same, nor perform the same.

H110 and W296 are the exact same powder.

I sell a 180gr FPGC and they work well. Very good hunting bullet.
