Brand New Ruger SR22 Review

Well,
I called my lgs and put a Glock 26 gen 4 that their website stated they had on hold. This was for my better half as she likes the Gen 4 interchangable back strap.

When I went to the LGS to pick up the prize the clerk handed me the nicest looking Gen 3 G26 I have seen. Too bad it wasn't the gen 4 grip like she wanted.

As I was leaving I noticed this little baby.

Here's the rub. I will not inform you of the apologies of the owner of the LGS nor the awesome price I got this thing for but let's just say I have not seen a lower advertised price on an SR22.

Well it came home with me and was a blessing in disguise. Over 100 rounds of CCI later and not a single hickup.

I am extreemly happy with fit and finish as well as functionality as it was perfect. Compared to the last 22 pistol I owned (a chiappia 1911 22 pos).

Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the days expirence was that Momma vermonter who is visiting for the holidays decided to give it a go!

I love our SR22...never one problem, I love the fact you don't have to feed it CCI's to get reliability.

Not one issue in over 1500 rounds of several different brands of junk.

Glad you like it. Is a very neat little .22 and I have had nothing but fun with mine although nowhere near the 1500 rounds of others. Maybe 400 rounds so far with no problems and also pretty good accuracy even compared to my MKII.

Update

Ok,

I am at 500 and change rounds without a malfunction of any kind. Have cleaned it once after the first box of 375. It is running like a top and definitely accurate.

Took a new shooter out with it today and wow this is going to help me introduce alot of folks to shooting.

Just letting everyone know that the little Ruger is rocking.

Regards, Vermonter

^^^agree^^^

Congrats on the new pistol.

I've lost count how many rounds with mine. Only problem was Wichester ammo. Works great with Blazer/CCI and Federal.

Marquez

After that LC9 expirence I was worried I would never own another ruger other than the lcp.

Turns out I have found another I like! I have been in Glock land so long that you and I haven't chatted.

How ya been?

I've been pretty busy. Just got done doing a couple of rifle builds so less focus on my pistols. Other than that, I've been great.

How are you doing?

Fantastic

I am going the other way and am almost completely pistol focused now. Hunting season was a step away from firearms for a while but I'm back now.

Well we are at 700 rounds

Still have no malfunctions to report of any kind. I still have an accurate little 22. I still can't find anything at all wrong with this little guy

I am going to purchase a second and put one of these in each of our emergency bags.

Regards, Vermonter

Nice idea Vermonter! Therein lies the best value of the SR22; a nice plinker for fun or emergency.

I can't fault this thing at all

I am ready to rely on this for an emergency if I ever have to.

Pick up a Stainless Steel guide rod from GSGpro.com for $10 +shipping. The original is plastic and there are reports of them snapping during blowback. I have around 2500 rounds through mine and it has been flawless. Watch the slide wear it seems to start at the catch button and debris from this can get into the slide rails and cause problems. I pull my slide back and then depress the catch button and gently slide it forward which takes more time but I have no signs of wear at this joint. The catch button is steel and the slide is aluminum so the slide gets beat up first. Watch for this wear to appear I've heard Ruger is really good about replacing the slides when damaged like this.

I'm really wanting one of these! Do you know if Ruger sells them with threaded barrels? I cant look while at work, computer blocks the fun sites.

I picked up an SR22 this weekend. Between my wife and I we put 525 rounds through it without a problem. I gotta say, so far I love it! Best part is my wife wanted it as bad as did so I'm not sleeping on the couch!
