It's infinitely easier to get a baseline powder charge if you get a Lee hand press and a scale and trickler to take to the range with you. Load up a few rounds with different charge rates at home and when you find the best one, you can fine tune it a bit right from the bench without the need to go back and forth.

I also thought about producing handloads at the range but my range charges by the hour.

Shouldn't be too bad if you have them prepped so you can seat the bullet and crimp. Sure as sh** cheaper than making trips back and forth when gas is $4.00 a gallon.

These targets are the best for OCW, at least that's what I think

270 looks pretty obvious, but the 223 looks like you have a couple of choices. Which load did you further refine, 23.2?

Hey 1stmar,

On the 223 love the group at 22.6
Yea, I plan on working around the 23.2 and up towards the 23.5 then play with the COL. I would like to have the extra velocity from this range. The strays are probable me, it was late in the day and my old eyes are just not what they use to be.
