Forster Original Case Trimmer & 45-70

I went ahead and ordered the #4 collet, but it turns out the collet housing is too small to accept the rim on the case.

I went to Forester's website and it seems as if they are aware of the problem. They say the collet housing needs to be drilled out to .610.

Would a local, run of the mill machine shop be able to help me out? I really don't want to send the housing back to Forester for reaming, but I am afraid that not every machine shop has a .610 drill.

Just call Forester and see if they will not send you a new one.

I was just trimming some Remington 45-70 the other day with my Forster and #4 Collet and it worked fine. My trimmer is only about a year old, so my housing may have newer specs. Forster will open up the housing for free if you send it to them.
