Anybody own one? Thoughts on this?

I own one but I have only had the chance to take to the range once I'm pretty impressed with it. It's very thin and compact and for such a small gun the recoil is not bad. I had a Kahr PM45 and like the XDS alot more plus they have extended mags for the XDS that fit/look nice. If your a 45 guy and want to carry a 45 for CW you can't beat the xds. Kinda reminds me of a walther PPS.

Yeah I use to have a Walther PPS 9mm that I just sold and the dimensions of the XDs are almost the same. Only shot a .45 once, so wondering if this is the way to go. Use to have a .40 too, so not really worried about the higher caliber, but more about the higher caliber in such a smaller pistol...

I just got one, and I love it.
The recoil is definitely noticeable, but I don't find it painful. It doesn't seem as bad as my sp101 with .357mags. I can put 100 rounds through it without my hands tingling.
.45 is a big round, but it's pretty low pressure, so while it definitely has kick, it's not as snappy as a scaled up 9mm or .40 would be. Also, it has some pretty beefy springs which help to tame it a bit.

I posted a lot more of my thoughts about it right after I got it... it's somewhere in the first few pages of this sub-forum I imagine.

I have a XD 45 Tactical.... converted to 460 Rowland... it rocks!

Never fired a standard 45 ACP round with it! The ported barrel is sweet but also part of the conversion.

Bought one and took it to the range and was really impressed. Felt great, shot well for a short barrel, and very manageable recoil for such a small .45. If they would have added one more round (6) I could get 3 fingers on the grip. The 7 round mag is 3 1/2 fingers for me. Eyes are getting old and I couldn't see the fiber optics sight very well so had Trijicon nights sights with the big orange front sight put on it and love it. Now my CCW.

Yeah thinking about getting it for my CCW. Was worried about the recoil for a .45 on a small gun, but most people are saying its not bad.

The ergonomics are excellent and the accuracy for such a small gun is astounding. Springfield hit the mark with this one.

Springer XDs

Love mine! I've had it for 3-4 months, 100+ rounds, -0- failures.
I'd recommend a section of a bicycle inner tube to pad the grip. It enhances the tactile feel, ability to grip, and takes the edges off the polymer grip surface. They can be a bit much on my old, softy hands.
Right now, I'm working on a pocket leather holster design. If that ever materializes, I'll post pictures.

Enjoy your new little handful! It's my CC now. I keep my Springer 45 Compact, 5" bbl in the car. IT'S the back-up to the XDs!

It's a .45 in a small frame, most will notice more recoil. I compare it
to my full sized XDM .45, and it does give your hand more of a "workout".
That said, it certainly is a fine gun and makes a great CCW. Love the
front Fiber Optic sight!

Rjeezie,

Sorry, no pics. But, got to a bicycle shop, ask them if they have a used inner tube from a 1 1/2" to 2" bicycle. They will give you a used one. Or, go to WallyWorld and buy one for $4.

I just cut a 3" - 4" length and trimmed it to clear the grip safety and to be clear of the mag well.

If you still need a pic, I'll try to post one after work today

You can take it on or off. It's not glued in place. The inner tube will make about 20 of them! But, I don't expect you can wear them out.

the inner-tube sounds like a makeshift houge grip sleeve. I think for like ~$7-8 you can get one of those.

Ok cool. Well let me get my hands on one first! They're sold out a few places I've gone. Gotta make sure I'm going to get it too over the other few guns I get.

Just threw a tube on my SR9c, and my first thought was; why didnt I try that sooner!

If you go to a shop ask for a 700cc roadbike tube it is smaller and will fit better. I used a 26in tube and it fit great but im gonna try a road tube to compare.

Truthfully, I read about that somewhere. Can't take the credit, except for trying it out.

Yeah, don't fuss over the recoil remember it's a CCW not a target gun. Take it to the range put a few mags through it to function check it take it home and clean it and your good to go. No sense in beating yourself up shooting 100rds through it a few mags down the pipe is enough. Break out a 22 if you want to target shoot it's cheaper anyway. BTW speer 185gr gold dots work fine in mine. Good luck !

Hairbag,

Interesting follow up question... Been thinking about picking up a 22 for target (was looking at a SR22)... What's a good 22 to take a look at?

A even cheaper version is to use multiple rubber bands wrapped around the grip. You will get the same result. Try to find black rubber bands. They do not stick out visually as much.
