Which .243 factory round do you prefer...

1. 100gr Rem. Core-lokt
2. 95gr Federal Fusion
3. 85gr Sierra Game King BTHP

in my experience, (several boxes) the 243 corelocks have been accurate, consistant lot to lot, and the results on game have been great. i have one bullet i recovered from a hog, on deer all the shots have been pass thru. the bullet i got back from the hog was well mushroomed and against the skin on the opposite side.

Hornady Custom 100 gr. for deer/hogs.

Federal Premium 85 gr. BTHP Sierra for vermin. -7-

ive heard that the 100 grain loads dont do well in .243s with twist rates of 1:10 (like the Tikka T3) and that with the 100gr loads a higher-end barrel with 1:8 or 1:9 twist rate should be used.

Does anyone have an opinion on this? Is this range-sensitive?

i shot 100 grain core lokt outta my A-Bolt and itll drop 5 rounds into 1 1/2 group at 200 yards. for my purposes of hunting deer in the northeast thats more than accurate enough. ive never had stabalization problems at all. perfectly round holes every time. if i knew how to post pics id put one but youll just have to take my word for it i guess.

100 gr. Win. Power Point or Rem. Core-Loct. WallyWorld sells both. My Rem. 700 doesn't seem to notice the difference.

I like the standard Federal 100 gr soft point. They seem to deform really well.

I've used the Fusion ammo with success on deer, it's accurate and deadly.

Federal Power-Shok 80gr Speer Hot-Cor. I have used these in three very different rifles and they all like them.

I have killed deer from 20 feet to well over 100 yards with this load with excellent results. The bullet holds up to extreme impact velocity at close range and retains plenty of velocity and energy to make kills well out there.

I haven’t been able to test it out much past 125 yards yet but when they drop on the spot with complete pass through I have no doubt that they will perform to well past that mark.
