Pick up a Finnish reloading book. The Russian bolt action has been "Done to death" over there. I did try one in 8MM-54R. I t was not a great shooter, but I blame the barrel I used mostly. It is real easy to convert the brass. There are some other Wildcats listed in the book if you are into playing around. Be aware that if you change something dovetailed, it is some weird metric configuration on the angles (Kinda like a Mauser front sight). I had to make my own cutter for the extractor.

FYI, most MN enthusiasts know that the Russians won the Olympic Biathlon in 1976 with a Mosin-Nagant chambered in 6.5 x 54R...
