1863 New Model Sharps Carbine
Any suggestions as to how I can find a mfg. date for S.N. 997xx. Also, a nice clear picture showing all parts and descriptions? This Sharp is still .52 Caliber but it is a little rough. I will take better pictures and post them in a few days. Thanks for any and all help.

One of the more fascinating things about the Sharps is the Lawrence pellet primer system. It is well worth a "Google". I once made up some dummy primers by slicing off pieces of copper rod with a fine saw, and it was fascinating to watch those little discs fly out and get smacked by the hammer as they passed over the nipple.
