lee pro 1000 issues

I have a lee pro 1000 with the 40 sw dies that are a year old. My second box of 500 rounds is having issues. Every ten rounds or so i have a round that will not seat the bullet straight or will push part of the brass down. Any thoughts.
thank you

What type of bullet are you using?

Just curious as to what type of bullet you are using. I've loaded a few thousand rounds of 9mm with a Pro 1000, and I haven't had that issue when using LRN or FMJ round nose, though I've never tried using flat nosed bullets.

Do you "ride the bullet up", that is, guide it into the seater die on the way up with your fingers?

Is it just the seater die that seems to do this? Is your shell plate perhaps just a tiny bit out of line?

My $0.02. Hope it helps!

Cheers!

Adjust the second die (powder through expander die) to bell the case a bit more.

...and if it's not mouth flaring that is causing your issues... are you certain that your indexing is adjusted perfectly? There can be some damage to the nylon gear that handles the indexing if it's been monkeyed with. The nylon gears are easily replaceable and cheap, Lee may even send you a couple for free.

Run the press with no powder, primers or brass and ensure that it's indexing perfectly ALL THE TIME. Mine runs like a top once I have it adjusted, and it doesn't lose it's adjustment until I swap calibers.
