Any Marlin XL7 30-06 Loads?

Hey guys, I'm new to reloading. I just got all my equipment setup and wanted to start on some good hunting rounds for my 30-06. Was wondering if anyone had the same rifle as me that had a good load worked up already. Typical shots will range from 75-200 yards. When I buy factory, I use Remington Core-Lokt PSP rounds, and would like to stick as close to that as possible. If you shoot this rifle and have some good loads, please post Bullet, Grain of Bullet, Powder and Grain of Powder, also Primer, and OAL. Thanks for any help.

This is a bit of a reduced load, but shoots great in my XL7:

LC 67 brass
165 gr Core-Lokt
48 grains AA4350
WLR primers

It runs about 2,450 fps, but there's plenty of room to safely work up from there (toward the factory claim of 2,800 fps).

The classic "go-to" load for .30-06 with 165 gr bullets, is 53-56 gr of IMR4350.

I load 150gr Gameking and 155gr Palma SMK with 50gr of IMR-4895 which gets me just over 2900fps and accuracy is under moa if I do my part.

My 30-06 loves CorLokt and I shoot them if Im not shooting my handloads. I havent shot any heavier bullets than the 150-155gr. I havent hunted anything that required anything heavier.

Sometimes I load 48gr. of 4895 which puts me at around 2800fps for just target shooting and plinking.

I've worked up loads for family members in a number of different bolt action '06 rifles including an M1917, a Parker-Hale, 2 Remingtons, 3 Savages and Tikka - none an XL7, but always found the same load (+ or - .3 gr) to be quite accurate in every one of them so I think it's worth a try: H4350 57.0gr, CCI200 LRP, and Hornady 165gr Interlock SP - it's also proven itself as an excellent performing hunting load. The usual advice of starting a bit below and working up apply of course.

I've also used this load successfully with slight variations in bullet styles (165 Interlock BTSP and 165gr SST) but not every rifle would shoot the boat tails as well as the standard flat base. It's worth experimenting if you so desire, but if you try the BT design and don't get acceptable results try the FB. OAL may be different with each rifle, somewhere between seated to the cannelure and magazine length.

Sounds like OP needs to invest in a couple manuals and some reading time. For bullets Sierra Pro Hunter in 125gr, powders- still testing, primers - cci or winchesters.

My rifle likes the 150 grain B-Tip, with a charge of 57.5 grains of IMR 4350, but start lower and work your way up.

In a bunch of rifles over the years, RP Brass, CCI200, Hornady or Sierra 150 flat base, IMR4064. Start at 50gr. Book max is 52-53. In my rifles, 52 was the best combination of velocity and accuracy, giving an extreme spread of 26fps at the chrony. Right at 2900 in 22", too.
