Problem with Win X3

As the bolt moves forward pushing a shell in to the chamber, the next shell in the magazine loads into the bottom of the breech and locks the feeding ramp blocking it (so another round cannot be loaded into the magazine).

This action should happen as the slide is opening not closing. I called Win and their tech said it was an easy adjustment to make; any ideas what this adjustment is? I'd prefer to not have to ship my gun back to them and then have to go pick it up from the main mail depot in Mesquite, Tx. What an inconvenience.

TY

Re: Problem with Win X3

It probably has trash behind the bolt stop. There is nothing to adjust.

Remove the bolt stop, it is straight forward, hairpin clip inside loading port, put grease on the pin or a rag, it will go flying, push pin down and out, clean thoroughly, make sure both springs are good, re-assemble.

I don't see a clip on the pin. I looked up some schematics and there should be a clip in the slot just under the carrier, but I don't see one. I tried taking pics for you, but it is so black and dark, you can't see anything in them.

FYI... http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufact...tm?results=All

Anyway, what could I use to push the pin out? The hole is tiny and I don't have a punch that narrow.

I use a small allen wrench, if you hold the tension off of the bolt stop, a piece of a small paper clip will do it.

Well, OC, taking the carrier lever off and reassembling it fixed it. The problem was that the pin was not fully engaged at the top of its channel. Pushing it back in all the way makes the lever sit right. The real problem is that it is missing the hairpin clip so the pin was working itself loose. So I will need to get one before shooting the gun again.

This is much easier than shipping it back and forth!

TY,

You are welcome, install the clip with the opening facing the butt stock, it keeps the shell from snagging it.

This isn't the first time I have seen this.

Why I stay away from autoloaders and prefer stackbarrels. There's always something...

I guess you are selling the Affinity then?

To say an auto loader is less reliable than a O/U is plain ludicrous, they are all prone to failure regardless of where they are made or who they are made by. Because a clip came out of battery, they are suddenly inferior, give me a break.

I guess I don't need to bring up CDB's 525 16ga huh?

I actually have to congratulate myself for one thing I did do right. I ordered 2 of those tiny, little clips.

When I was tyring to install the first one, it just would not go on. After about an hour of trying, sure enough, it went flying off and I couldnt' find it.

So, I got the 2nd one out, tied some string to it and had at it again. It finally went in to place. I'll make sure it stays there after a round of clays but it should be fine. If not, I'll do soemthing more drastic to keep that pin in place.

Re: Problem with Win X3

You can drill and pin it like a Beretta, all you would need to do is measure from the bottom of the receiver to the bottom of the pin, then subtract 1/2 the diameter of the roll pin +. 030". I did it to a friends 3 gun Mossberg to prevent any possible failure during a match.
