I'm baffled. Seems the town of Phoenix is out of large pistol primers.
Been several weeks now where you can't buy 'em. Heck, Dillons hasn't had some for about a month. What's up? Did Winchester decide to get out of the business? James |

From all that I can gather, nationwide sales in the components industry have been very strong this year; in one exceptional instance business is running 110% ahead of last year at a powder house. Some of the wholesalers cite Y2K concerns.

Sure is incovinient. I had to drive 40 minutes and the store limited me to 1000 primers. Will have to go back again in about a week or two. I sure wish the Y2K thing would end so reality will come back. I'm kind of hoping to buy an AR15 (or two) at reduced rates next year when Y2K doesn't happen.
Hey, I jut noticed I'm a senior member here. Cool. I have no idea how that happened. Does this mean I have to grow up now? James |

Just got back from the Charlott NC gun show, there was no shortages of any components.
I had no trouble getting any and all the primers, powders, bullets and cases I needed at very good prices, (primers $12/1000). I did notice though that firearm and ammo prices seem to have taken a jump up, and private sales were way down. Last gun show I went sold out on all components the first day. Just my luck as I went on the second day. Such is life in the far west.

From: Murle's Gunsmith Shop and Spt. Gds. ([email protected])
Date: Tuesday, June 15, 1999 03:56 PM We got the word today that Winchester will not deliver anymore primers this year. This is due to the demand for loaded ammo and it will not allow them to have any extra primers to sell. I sure that the other manufactures of ammo will be having the same problems in the future. Seem to me that the only ones benefitting from more gun controls are the arms/components industry. Same thing happened in 1994 when primers became unavailable and the gun prices skyrocketed.Once the price increases were accepted the guns and components became available. Guess it is a rich mans sport, much like the days of Merry Old England where the landed gentry[lords] were the only ones permitted to own arms and ammunition. IMHO there is a parallel taking place here.

I bought 15,000 Winchester primers a few weeks ago at the gunshow in Tucson? I can't say that I have seen any signs of a shortage?
