rust & corrosion due to stupidity
Got a Thompson Center Black Diamond for free from the wife's uncle. It was given to him from a coworker who didn't take care of it. The barrel needs rebluing but has other bigger issues. The striker assy has black/rust corrosion in spots and the bore is pretty bad. Anyone know any helpful hints? I have to get a brush for the bore to see how much of the rust will clean out.

Soak it in penetrating oil. Kroil or PB Blaster are good. Rub the rust off with a Nylon brush and use a bronze bore brush to get it out of the bore.
Then see how it shoots. Even rusted and pitted bores sometimes shoot just fine. The shape of the crown matters most, and if none of the rust pits interrupt it, you may be in good shape.

Might be if the guy had been smarter you would not have a free gun.
Is a Black Diamond a single shot/changeable bbl TC? |

Plug barrel and fill with Kroil and let soak you pick how long, drain, then run brush through and then patches. Oil is needed when done.
