Is the Tamer drilled and tapped to accept a scope? A 3" .410 slug should easily put down a yote at under 50 yards, BUT you need to shoot & practice with the gun to make sure you can hit a vital area. If the H&R isn't capable of decent groups with a slug, you will need to get something else.

In my neck of the woods a used single bbl 12ga can be found for +/-$75. Check gun shops, pawn shops, etc . . . in your area and you might even check: craigslist.org under the sporting good section.
