Weather Reminder/Warning...
I posted this last fall after a near miss w/ lightening, and figured it's worth bringing up again. If you can hear thunder, YOU CAN GET STRUCK BY LIGHTENING
I knew better having a background in meteorology. However, the urge to press on the hunt overcame common sense. A bolt of lightening struck a tree less than 50yds from my treestand. The sun was out, but I could hear thunder. I thought to myself, If it gets any closer, I'm getting down. Well, It got closer all right. Please learn from my near fatal mistake last year, and don't do what I did. The hunt is not worth your life.

Yep, not a good idea to be up a tree when there's lightning! On the other hand, it's not good to be anywhere NEAR lightning strikes! The pro golfer, Lee Trevino, has been struck by lightning TWICE while playing golf! Not sure if his golf club attracted the lightning, but probably!

Good reminder - and not only that, the high winds that accompany most any storm can and do break off large branches which fall to the ground. These chunks of wood can kill/maim/paralyze as well. Trees are not your friend in a storm. If it's a bad electrical storm, I go sit in my pickup until the worst of it passes - the rubber tires keep it from grounding, and so lightning will not hit.

Yeah, I never got out of a stand so fast in all my life...I left my bow and hooked it.

Thanks for the reminder. Lightning is the most dangerous part of the storm for hunters. Please be safe, all!

I think Trevino's advice was something like this:
